Webdocumentary
Trance Roads

Sisygambis and Mayotte’s University present an evolving webdocumentary, an immersive journey into the traditional music and culture of the peoples of the South.

Trance music was chosen as the focus, as these are collective moments of shared music that unite an entire population, but these musical traditions are threatened with extinction as a result of globalization.

This webdocumentary, involving students from Mayotte, is part of a process of transmitting knowledge, audiovisual and digital techniques with a view to safeguarding and sharing. This work of transmission to future generations is destined to develop in various parts of the world.

The music and sounds captured during the journeys, mixed with Christine Coulange's compositions, allow the navigator to be totally immersed in the landscapes and daily lives of the inhabitants of the countries travelled through.

This project follows on from the webdocumentary Ports, from the Mediterranean to the Indian Ocean produced in 2017 by Sisygambis and the Arab World Institute.
